Oaklawn Park is a racetrack in Arkansas and they recently announced the addition of an expanded electronic gambling parlor. The new parlor offers gamblers craps, poker, blackjack and machines similar to slot games. The Park is the largest single tourist attraction in Arkansas and with the live thoroughbred racing season starting next week, the new gambling area is sure to be a hit with patrons. A soft opening will be taking place starting on January 15th to work out any bugs that may need to be fixed.
The games vary and offer players many choices. Some of the blackjack tables feature video dealers on a large video screen that are programmed to make what appears to be eye contact as they go from player to player.
Each new game is technically called ‘electronic games of skill’ and that distinction allows Oaklawn and Southland Gaming and Racing in West Memphis to be able to offer the games. The Arkansas Constitution has a ban on casinos so this technicality allows the games to be legal.
