Anthony Carleo the man accused of robbing the Bellagio Casino last year has now pled guilty to robbing both the Bellagio and the Suncoast casino. Carleo was offered a deal and decided to accept the agreement and now he could face eight years to seventy two years in prison. Bill Terry the lawyer representing Carleo stated that even though Carleo faces many years in prison, he could have faced a much tougher sentencing. If he had not taken the plea deal presented to him by the District Attorney’s office he would have gone to trial and faced multiple charges which would have sent him to jail for life, most likely.
When Carleo was arraigned, he stated that he was guilty of walking into the Suncoast casino with a handgun and taking just over $18,000 from the cashier’s cage. He also admitted to going to the Bellagio a few nights later and walking into the craps area and taking around $1.5 million in casino chips from the craps table.
Carleo was connected to both robberies in the beginning because he wore a motorcycle helmet and used a motorcycle as his getaway vehicle. Since he has now pled guilty in both crimes, he will now face a
sentencing trial. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 23rd at 8:30am. This hearing will be for the Bellagio robbery and on the 25th; Carleo will face sentencing for the Suncoast robbery.
Carleo is currently being held in the Clark County Detention Center and will remain there until he faces two different judges on his sentencing days. We will continue to follow this case and report the sentencing details as they are made available.
