The biggest news to hit the craps world was the Bellagio robbery that took place back in December. A so called biker bandit entered the casino and robbed a craps table of over $1 million in casino chips. Police were able to apprehend a suspect a few weeks later and now as the case is set to go to trial, news has broke that a secret informant is going to testify. It has been reported that a doctor is the informant and will be testifying at the preliminary hearing of Anthony Carleo the accused biker bandit. William Terry is the attorney for Carleo and he told the judge in the case that is would like to subpoena the informant to testify. The hearing will be back in court on March 25th.
The informant was brought up on testimony by an undercover police officer on February. The detective stated that he met Carleo many times via the informant and the meetings lead the suspect to selling several of the $25,000 casino chips that he stole from the craps table.
Terry asked the Chief Deputy District Attorney to give him the name of the informant but the attorney objected. Despite his objection, the judge told Owens that Terry is able to interview his informant. Because of this decision by the judge the preliminary hearing was delayed until the recent check hearing.
At this hearing Terry told the judge that he was given a transcript of a conservation that was recorded by the police detective that was of him and the informant speaking. Terry then told the judge that he would be sending a subpoena to the informant.
Carleo is still being held at the Clark County Detention Center in the meantime and the trial will be back in business in just a few days.
