Last Tuesday morning a man decided he was going to rob the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas. The man came into the casino waving a gun around and managed to walk up to a craps table and get away with at least $1.5 million in chips. The man looked intimidating with his gun in the air and motorcycle helmet on. Gamblers watched in horror as the man entered the casino, armed and dangerous, and walked up to the craps table. The man quickly placed the casino chips in the bag and walked away.
The robber walked out into the night and got on his motorcycle to escape. Casino security was in pursuit of the man but they had to choose whether to let him escape or face the potential for a shootout. So they let him go.
Every moment of the incident was caught on tape as the security cameras were rolling. The very next day police were on the lookout for anyone trying to cash in chips that were large denominations. Police and industry leaders say the man is probably looking at worthless chips as everyone is on the lookout for them.
Lt. Clinton Nichols of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police department stated that the chips are not considered cash unless they are taken back to the casino to be cashed in. the man could try and attempt to cash them in somewhere else but state regulations have a few restrictions when it comes to cashing in other properties chips. Only time will tell what the robber will try and do with his stolen craps chips, the Bellagio may never find out who the robber was or he may be dumb enough to try and turn the chips in, we will just have to wait and see.
