When people see the word shooting and casino in the same sentence, most people, especially gamblers, think of the game of craps. Shooting craps is a popular activity among casino goers and is a popular game that is played well into the night time hours. However this past weekend, it was a craps shooting that gained everyone’s attention at a Sparks, Nevada casino but a real shooting. Many people were standing outside the casino in Sparks and the people outside included members of the Hell’s Angels the San Jose chapter and the Vegas, a rival bike gang of the Hell’s Angels. According to reports, a gunfight broke out and the result of the fight was that Jeffrey Pettigrew, the head of the San Jose chapter of Hell’s Angels was dead along with two other men.
The casino was able to capture footage of the event on their surveillance video cameras. The cameras show that Caesar Villagrana was the shooter and he is now facing several charges including assault with a deadly weapon. Villarana was seen on tape shooting into the crowd of people at the casino. However police have stated that it has not been confirmed that any of the bullets hit the people in the crowd.
Villagrana was placed in jail and has a bail set at $500,000 which will be accepted in cash only. This instance has many people worried about going to the casino in Sparks to gamble. It also has patrons being more aware of their surroundings. Players need to be sure the area is safe and that they will be able to enter the casino and leave the casino in a safe manner.
