Cleveland Ohio residents are in full dealer training mode after classes began this past Thursday at the Thistledown racetrack. On this day over one hundred and fifty students entered the track to learn how to work as a dealer for several games including craps, blackjack and other table games. The training session was four hours long and students learned how the game worked as well as how to shuffle cards, count chips and greet players as they come to the table to play. Overall, students learn the entire workings of each game from craps to blackjack to be able to, hopefully, be hired at casinos in the area.
The Horseshoe Casino will be hiring many dealers and the students who to be the ones hired by the casino. Many seemed nervous as they crowded around the gaming tables trying to learn the proper moves and techniques for each game.
Each student realizes that earning a spot at the casino would be a life changing job opportunity. Being a craps or blackjack dealer, or working at other table games allows the students to not only have a job but have a career.
Students will have to endure fifty nine more sessions before they have completed their training. Students will be tested on their personality and stamina on the gaming floor which will lead to a job at the Cleveland Horseshoe Casino for many. The new casino is scheduled to open in late March in the Higbee building.
Students asked one of the teachers at the school what the odds are of getting hired and they were told 100%. Joe Seyfert a twenty eight year old dealer with Caesars told everyone that is why he was at the school and that no one is going to fail.
