Colorado casinos have been very busy ever since the state has increased the betting limits and added craps and roulette to the casino floors. the casinos are also open twenty four/seven now because of new legislation and the casinos want to be able to serve alcohol around the clock. Colorado state law does not allow businesses to serve alcohol beverages between two and seven in the morning. The casino operators have found that once the beer stops flowing the dice at the craps table cease and the slot machines get quiet.
Casino operators have stated that discussions to eliminate or amend the law or to create an exemption for casinos are preliminary. A proposal may not be created until 2011. But operators have already brought the issue to the attention of state legislators. The Colorado Gaming Association is researching liquor laws in other states as well.
Casino operators have stated that they want to serve alcohol twenty four/seven to keep up with Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos, which offer round the clock alcohol. However some are opposed to the extended hours as they think it will create public intoxication.
It seems as though it may be some time before anything will be done about the situation. It may be years before Colorado Casinos see any type of legislation on the subject.
