Gamblers in the state of Arizona could have many more options if voters approve to expand casino and racetrack gambling options. Voters will be able to say if they want to see an expansion take place in the entire state or if they are against the proposal. The secretary of state in Arizona recently commented on an initiative petition which was filed by the Arizonans for Fair Gambling. The petition asked for the expansion of casino and racetrack/casino gambling for the entire state. Right now, gambling at casinos is only allowed on the tribal lands.
The ballot states that casinos would be approved by a citizens committee and they will run under the Arizona Department of Gaming jurisdiction. The department of gaming would be collected a share of the proceeds of each casino on a quarterly basis.
The amount the state earns will depend on how much the casino is able to make. The initiative language states that Arizona would earn 2 percent of the first $25 million that is made and then six percent on the next $50 million.
The percentage continues to increase and will then move on to twelve percent on the next $25 million and then sixteen percent once the profits hit above $100 million. The state will earn proceeds from not only the gambling machines but from the card tables and other games of chance.
The state will also earn cash from restaurants, gift shops, as well as movie theaters and hotels along with other activities. Overall both the state and gamblers will be able to benefit if the games are allowed at the casinos and race tracks.
