Table games have been doing very well in the state of Pennsylvania especially after this past month. The state has released their revenue figures for table games such as craps and blackjack and the figures show that the games have increased by over fifty percent for the month of august compared to last year. Gamblers visited the ten casinos in the month of august and spent a total of $54.8 million on table games which is a 58.4 percent increase in the state compared to the $34.6 million earned in August 2010. Last year there were only nine casinos operating so that does has some effect on the overall totals.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board regulates the casino industry in the state and they reported the figures for the comparison. Richard McGarvey is a spokesman for the board and he commented that table game revenues can fluctuate greatly when they are compared monthly, year after year.
The revenue totals also depend on how well players do at the table games. Good gamblers who take their take and really think about their craps and blackjack game play can earn more cash which will cut into the revenues of the casino.
The main reason the figures are much larger for this year is because there are just over 280 more table games operating than last year. There is a total of 918 table games at the ten casinos in the state which is much more than last year’s totals. It will be interesting to see if the totals will continue to be in the high figures or maybe gamblers will hit a hot streak and they will take a little cut!
