The Wynn Las Vegas Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is currently suing two gamblers for suspecting them of cheating the casino. The two gamblers, Leonardo Fernandez and Veronica Dabul caught the casino’s eye after they won $145,000 on just seven slides of the dice. The casino is now accusing the duo of participating in ‘dice sliding’ to have an unfair advantage at the casino. Dice sliding is a technique used to scoot the dice across the table and have a specific number come up. The dice are arraigned in the players hand on a certain number and they dice are slid a certain way to be able to get the number the player chose face up. The number used is usually a six and it pays out thirty to one odds, so the player profits greatly.
The duo were arrested and the Nevada Gaming Control Board commented that dice sliding is not a common form of cheating because it does require skill and practice. The court papers show that the two were playing at different craps tables and they were on different teams. The duo had many accomplices that would distract the employees of the casino at the time the slides were taking place.
The lawsuit stated: “Through their individual acts of cheating and their conspiracy to defraud and cheat at the game of craps by sliding, defendants left the Wynn Las Vegas with over $700,000.” It will be interesting to see where this case leads and we will definitely be staying on top of every new detail.
