The Hollywood Casino has now officially started their dealer’s classes at the Owens Community College. Students will be learning how to deal for several casino games including craps, blackjack and much more. 126 students are currently enrolled in the school and they begin classes this past Monday. The first game to be learned will be blackjack. Students will learn how to handle card decks, cut chips, shuffle and figure payouts to players. Neal Perry the director of table games commented: “There’s a different couple techniques on how to get a god, what we call riffle, within the cards, so that takes a lot of practice. It’s important because there’s a lot of things the general public doesn’t realize that needed.”
Each class has around fifty people in it and one takes place in the morning, one in afternoon and one in the late evening hours. The next training classes at the dealer school will be on poker, craps and roulette. Each class will teach the rules of the games as well as how to handle cards, chips and machinery needed to run the games.
The casino is hoping to hire around five hundred dealers after the classes have completed. Perry commented that he is very excited about the hiring of the dealers. Each student is very excited to be taking the classes and are looking forward to becoming professional dealers. The process has been running smoothly which makes the experience even more exciting.
