One of the largest cases in casino cheating came out of Las Vegas when a motorcycle bandit went inside the Bellagio and stole over $1 million in casino chips from a craps table. This instance happened back in December and the alleged criminal has been arrested and now a doctor is set to testify in the court case. The accused, Anthony Carleo, had a preliminary last week and today a new hearing is set to take place where the doctor will testify. The doctor, who has been identified as Kian Kaveh, is an informant in the case. The hearing was delayed until today so William Terry, Carleo’s lawyer could speak with the witness.
Michael Gennaro is a police detective in Las Vegas and he worked undercover back in February setting up meetings that eventually led to Carleo selling him several of the stolen casino chips. Terry wants to see if Kaveh’s testimony coincides with the police officers testimony.
Carleo is the son of Judge George Assad who is the Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge, so the case has become high profile. Carleo first was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon as well as burglary with a deadly weapon. However more charges have now been added which include: robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, three more counts of robbery with a use of a deadly weapon as well as a victim who was over the age of sixty.
Today’s testimony will show whether or not the doctor has the same statements as others involved in this case. If not, the case may take a dramatic turn. Only time will tell what will happen in this case and we will definitely stay tuned to see what happens in this case.
