The Presque Isle Downs & Casino located in Erie have suffered a significant drop in table game revenues for the month of September. The casino has seen a drop of seven percent at the craps tables, blackjack and other table games. These figures are comparable to the table game revenues from the month of September 2010. In September 2010, the casino was able to earn just over $1.7 million from table games and in 2011 this number is down to just over $1.5 million. The Presque Isle Downs is not the only casino to see a drop in casino revenues. Mount Airy Casino is down nine percent and the Mohegan Sun is down two percent.
The Gaming Control Board in the state is the one who reports on the figures and a spokesman for the board, Richard McGarvey, commented that he does not know why some casinos are seeing an increase in revenues and others are seeing a decline. However, he did say that table games tend to fluctuate so changes can happen at any time.
McGarvey went on to say that the revenues for table games depend on how well gamblers are able to do at the tables. The players who do well at the craps tables, for example, will cut into the revenues that the casino makes.
One reason for the increase in revenues is that table games are added each year. With additional table games at the casinos, there are more opportunities for the revenues of the table games to increase. Casinos are hoping that as they add the games, their revenues will even out and eventually they will continue to increase.
