No one is safe from the insanities of an addicted gambler. In recent news reports, even sick children cannot get away from being duped by an online gambler. A charity director located in Kansas City was recently found to be stealing from a nonprofit organization he worked for to support his gambling habit. It was unclear as to which games fifty three year old Sean T. was playing when he stole the money, it could have been craps or blackjack or even poker. Sean was responsible for running the organization and helping children who were sick as well as those who had epilepsy. However, the charity director decided to steal over $70,000 instead to fund his gambling habit.
Sean was eventually caught and then disappeared from the nonprofit. To take funds from donors, Sean had opened a fake business that would charge consulting fees but no work was being performed. This is such a heinous crime because Sean was not only stealing from his employer but also stealing from sick children in the process.
It has not been stated as to how Sean will be charged and what the punishment could be. Sean made the wrong decision to steal from his employer but that is what can happen if one becomes addicted to gambling. More information from this case is expected to be released in the near future.
