All across the United States, gamblers are trying to rip off land casinos. It seems as though every week a new story comes out about gamblers trying to scam the casino to get free money. The latest instance of this happening comes out of Pennsylvania. The Hollywood Casino is a popular stop for gamblers in East Hanover Township and they were the recent casino hit by cheaters. Two men visited the casino and tried to steal almost $2,500 from the land casino.
The two men, Dennis Sweeney and Thomas Rooney, were sitting at a craps table when they decided to put their plan into action. Sweeney was using a hand maneuver known as the slide which would help his partner in crime, Rooney, be able to have a better chance of winning the game.
The slide is when a player will try to slide the dice across the table instead of rolling the dice. Rooney was placing large wagers at the craps table while Sweeney was sliding the dice. This took place on April 27th and the men were eventually caught in the act.
It is unknown as to how the men were caught but they now face charges of conspiracy, theft and gaming charges. The men turned themselves in on the charges they face and now they most likely will face jail time.
Most gamblers who try to cheat eventually get caught whether it is during the act or after it takes place. Casinos have high tech security systems that allow them to monitor the entire gaming floor as well as the outside of the casino so this lets officers be able to see the players who may try to cheat.
