The Wyandotte Nation own a casino called 7th Street in Kansas City and they have announced they may soon be adding table games to their casino floor. If the table games are allowed at the casino it would increase competition between it and the state owned casino which is located close by.If a compact is come between the state and the nation it would upgrade the casino to allow table games and Class III slot machines. The casino is currently a Class II which means only slot machines are allowed that are based on Bingo or pull-tab games.
The tribe and the governor of the state have spent many months negotiating the terms and language of the compact before they finally came to an agreement. The compact was sent to Kansas Legislature and the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval.
The governor of the state Mark Parkinson commented: “The State has found a responsible approach to maintaining the integrity of gaming in Kansas as the Wyandotte Nation upgrades their casino. “
Carol Foreman is a member of the governor’s state and she helped negotiate the compact for the governor. She stated that the state’s role in the operations of the casino were laid out plainly: “Regulatory activities have to be spelled out clearly so the state and the tribe have an understanding going forward the state has an inherent interest in making sure the operation is run well.”
So hopefully players will soon be able to enjoy craps and other table games if the compact is approved. Players will be glad to have more options when they visit the casino.
