With so many gaming facilities opening up in the state of Pennsylvania as well as table games being added to existing facilities, dealers are in great need. Because of this fact, the Luzerne County Community College is working with World Wide Gaming Consultants to offer a dealer training program. Students of the school can learn how to deal craps and blackjack and hopefully get a job as a casino dealer once they have graduated. Classes will begin this September and students must be eighteen years or older to take the classes and the state’s gaming licensing requirements must be met before a student is eligible to take the classes. Those who learn how to be a craps dealer will learn the rules of the game as well as the object of the game. Chip handling is also discusses as well as check handling and odds.
Blackjack dealer training is also available for those who enjoy the game of blackjack. Blackjack dealers will learn how to handle chips as well as chip cutting, card totaling, card placement and card shuffling. Students will be taught the basics of the game and be prepared to work at casinos in the state.
The dealer training program will have an open house on August 31st at the Campus Center of the college and those who are interested in learning how to deal at the table games can visit and sign up. The event is free and is there for those who are seeking employment. The college will also help students find employment opportunities after they have finished the dealer classes.
