The Valley Forge Casino Resort located in Montgomery County Pennsylvania is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2012 and operators are now petitioning to add table games. the casino cost over $132 million to build and the construction is on schedule. However the casino is only allowed to add slot games and they would like to have a more rounded offering of games. Officials of the casino petitioned the Pennsylvania Gaming Board to see if they would be allowed to add table gaming options. The casino has been allowed to add six hundred slot games and they are asking to be allowed to add fifty tables with the added option of adding up to fifteen more which would be used for monthly poker tournaments.
The casino secured its license to operate slot games almost three years ago and the casino had to file the petition and have it approved to be able to add the table gaming options such as blackjack and poker and craps.
The board will be voting on the issue in February or March when the meet so the casino will have to wait a bit longer to see if they will be able to offer the table gaming options. If the petition is approved, then the investor in the casino, the Valley Forge Convention Center Partners L.P., will have to pay a fee of $7.5 million for the table games license.
William Ryan the board chairman commented: “This is the next step. All the heavy lifting is done. We came to listen to… all the information pertinent for the board to decide whether to grant authorization to certify table games.”
