The governor of New York, David Paterson, recently took a trip to Monticello to sign a compact which would allow the band of Mohican Indians to create a new casino in the Bridgeville area. The tribe will be spending around $700 million on the casino with their new land-claim settlement. Paterson signed the agreement because it would bring thousands of jobs as well as hundreds of millions of dollars to the state. After this announcement the governor went on to state the Monticello Casino and Raceway will be expanded. Empire Resorts will be expanding the racino by using $100 million dollars.
The racino is facing tough competition from neighboring states so Empire Resorts wants to be sure they are offering players the best in gaming options. They recently added roulette electronic games and they are planning on adding electronic craps, baccarat and blackjack in the near future.
According to a spokeswoman for the governor’s office, the governor decided to approve the Empire Resorts plan to expand the racino after he saw how much revenue they were already generating for the education and local government programs. The governor also believes that the racino will remain popular after the new casino is built.
Overall the citizens of New York will now have more options when it comes to gambling. Players can visit the racino, which used to offer only video gambling, to enjoy craps as well as other table games. And once the Mohican Indians have completed the full fledge casino, gamblers can visit it as well as enjoy table games as well as other basic casino offerings.
