The Saratoga Casino and Raceway located in Saratoga Springs, New York recently announced they have plans to expand their gambling facility and spend about $40 million on the expansion. The casino would like to add table gaming options to the expansion and would do so by adding craps, blackjack and poker. The expansion will include a 15,000 square foot casino/harness track which will offer the table gaming options. Craps tables, blackjack and poker tables would be added as well. The expansion will also include a 130 room hotel as well as an event center and dining options. The casino may decide to add a parking garage as well.
James Featherstonhaugh the president of the New York Gaming Association and part owner of the racino commented that a full blown casino, which is what they want to offer, would attract visitors from various states and help cement the city as a destination resort.
Featherstonhaugh commented: “I see Saratoga as sort of the Monte Carlo of New York casinos. It has a wonderfully colored history with gaming and although it’s a small city, it’s known all over the world.”
The announcement of the expansion took place on Thursday and showed an architectural rendering of the facility as well as a shovel ready date of 2014. The addition would create more jobs in the area as well as a steady stream of revenue.
