In Toledo, Ohio, a new casino getting ready to open next year and in the process of getting ready, the casino is hiring table game dealers. The Hollywood Casino Toledo will be opening this April and they are looking to hire several table game dealers including craps and blackjack dealers. The casino has posted positions about two weeks ago and already almost three thousand people have applied to work as a dealer at the casino. The three thousand applicants is a large number but casino executives say the number is less than they expected. Chrystal Herndon the vice president of human resources at Hollywood Casino Toledo commented: “I truly did expect a bit more, so you’ll see us after the next couple of weeks hit some community events and try to increase the interest. I would have loved to have 3,000 to 4,000 more applications.”
The casino has set up a Career Center across the street from the casino and those who would like to work at the casino as a craps dealer or other position have been conducting interviews there. Around five hundred people have been interviewed so far and they are being interviewed in groups of twenty five.
The applicants are not being tested on their table game dealing experience but on their personality especially in a group environment. Herndon commented: “There’re six spots at a blackjack table, up to twenty spots on a craps table. You’re interacting with that many customers at a time, so we want to see if you can do the same thing here.”
The casino is planning on accepting applications for the table game dealer positions as well as other positions until March 2012 but that date could change if enough positions are filled. The casino will be opening in April so positions will be filling up the closer it gets to the opening date.
