A casino has been proposed to be built in south Philadelphia for a long time now but it looks as though the casino may never happen. A lawyer for the state Gaming Control Board, Cyrus Pitre, stated he is filing a complaint to revoke the slots license for the Foxwoods casino which was to be built on the Delaware River. The casino is several years behind schedule because of financing problems and opposition from residents. Pitre commented: “We have started the process to revoke the slots license. A hearing would have to take place and court appeals could be made which would take months. The Foxwoods now has thirty days to argue the motion filed.
With so many facilities adding table games such as craps and blackjack, the Foxwoods casino would definitely be hurt financially if they are revoked their slots license. Having every aspect of neighboring casinos is detrimental to the casinos success. The coming weeks will show what exactly is going to happen in this case.
