The state gaming control board in Pennsylvania keeps a tight watch on gamblers who are on the banned listed. Many players are banned from casinos by the casino but most have asked to be banned so they can try and work on their gambling addiction. As of December 2011, over three thousand people have asked to be banned from casinos for a certain period of time. The board works hard to make sure the banned do not enter casinos or they will suffer stiff consequences. Gamblers can choose to be banned from one year to five years or for life. Most choose the one year ban however there are some gamblers who ask to be banned for a longer period of time if not for life. Those who are on the banned list cannot set foot inside a casino, to play craps or blackjack or any other casino game, or they will face a trespassing charge.
Gamblers who want to be banned must come to a regional office of the state gambling board or a casino and they will have to present an ID which has been issued by the government. They must also fill
out paperwork to be added to the list.
The state will then pass out the information as well as a photo to casinos in the state. Then only top officials at the casinos will have this information so they can protect those who have asked to be placed on the list.
Those who are banned by the casinos are known to most everyone at the casinos, many employees, so they can be seen immediately if they enter the casino. This is the difference between an involuntary ban and voluntary ban.
