The state of Pennsylvania is going to be offering table games in the near future so gaming establishments will be in need of dealers. The Northampton Community College is planning on offering classes to train students how to deal for different casino table games. More than 1,000 dealers, floor workers and pit managers will be needed if lawmakers legalize craps, blackjack, roulette and poker. The Community College is working to create a dealer program and will possibly begin offering a three month training program in January.
Paul Pierpoint the dean of NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center commented: “We need lots of space, lots of tables and lots of trainers, and we need it all yesterday. It’s mind-boggling to consider what has to be done very quickly, but we’re going to get there.”
Pierpoint has reserved an 8,000 foot auditorium at the south Bethlehem location for table game classes. The Sands casino has offered to bring in tables needed for the training. Pierpoint will be visiting New Jersey’s Atlantic Cape Community College next week. This facility trains hundreds to thousands of casino employees to work in Atlantic City each year. Pierpoint will be using his visit to get an idea of how classes should be run so the College can be ready when the legislation changes.
