Online sports blogger Fairway Jay of Sports Memo recently reported about an incident that occurred at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. Jay was there to cover the $20K Main Event hosted by the Epic Poker League but ended up coming upon an interesting craps story. Apparently poker player Greg Mueller had competed in the poker tournament and then decided he and a friend would play a little craps. At the Aria Hotel and Casino, Mueller and his friend were enjoying wagering on craps when Mueller’s friend Greg told him to count his chips.
Mueller had several chips, worth $5,000 each and he began to count them. Kyle had seen Mueller’s chips ‘shake’ and though that Mueller needed to count them. So he did and after a minute he realized that he was missing one.
It was at that time the pair of gamblers noticed a suspicious looking person walk away from the table. The man had been noticed earlier and as he walked away Mueller yelled: “That guy grabbed a chip!” both Mueller and Kyle jumped up from the table and took off in different directions. Kyle was able to grab the robber but in the process he only pulled his shirt off and the man kept going.
The two men were finally able to trap the robber and Mueller stated: “Ship the flag and nothing happens to you. I won’t press charges. I don’t know you out. Just ship the flag.” The man then handed over the chip. Mueller was willing to not press charges but security guards descended on the man right after the chip was handed back over.
