Land casinos are visited by hundreds of people every day and casinos have to make sure their security is top notch to avoid criminal activity. Out of the hundreds of people visiting the casinos, there is usually at least one person who thinks they can get past casino security and cheat the casino out of money. However most times the criminals get caught and are prosecuted for their actions. The most recent case of casino criminal activity comes from Rhode Island and involves the game of craps. The Foxwoods Resort Casino in Warwick, Rhode Island recently saw a customer pass fake bills while playing at the craps table.
Adam Selwyn was arrested this past week after he allegedly passed counterfeit bills at the craps table. Police investigated the matter and stated that Selwyn passed a $100 counterfeit bill at the craps table and had another fake $100 on his person at the time of his arrest.
Selwyn was patted down and his car was searched. In the search police found that Selwyn was also in possession of marijuana. Currently Selwyn was charged with possession of marijuana, first degree larceny and sixth degree larceny. Selwyn is scheduled to court on November 16th in New London and he was released on $500 bond.
Not only is the local police force investigating the matter but because the case involves counterfeit money, the United States Secret Service is also investing. More information is scheduled to be released once the case goes to court.
This instance goes to show how diligent casino security and employees have to be. If the bills had not been found to be counterfeit, Selwyn could have continued to play and cost the casino money and it may have went as far as Selwyn coming back again with counterfeit bills.
