Most times, casinos win big, as players wager more than they win. But sometimes, the cards align and players are able to win so much money the casino takes a loss in revenues. This is exactly what happened to the River City casino in St Louis, Missouri when a few lucky craps players descended on the casino. The casino has just now released their totals but back on October 19th and 20th, the casino lost over $1 million to craps gamblers. The loss was a huge one and according to state gaming officials the loss was the first in the city and probably the second in the state.
Joe Branchik the vice president of marketing at the casino commented on the losses by stating: “It was a good month to play table games at River City. We had a lot of people come in and have great luck with us. When the dice get hot and you’re playing that game, you can win really big.”
Branchik went on to say that it was probably less than ten players who went home with big winnings. The large loss at the craps tables was not due to one customer. The casino had a lot of lucky people coming in and it was definitely a first for the land casino.
LeAnn McCarthy of the Missouri Gaming Commission commented that the loss was unusual and it caught the commission’s eye. An audit was conducted to make sure the winnings were legit. The reports showed that the winnings were legitimate and nothing illegal had taken place.
