The SugarHouse Casino is set to open this September according to the general manager Wendy Hamilton. The casino is being built on Delaware avenue south of Shackamaxon Street in Philadelphia and will be offering table games as well as other casino gaming options. Hamilton commented that the casino was supposed to open in July but they will be missing that target date. She commented: "We lost some time to the snow. But we're working hard to make it up. I’m not concerned about the lost time. We'd love to be open tomorrow but don't think it's a big deal."
Like many of the states casinos, the SugarHouse planned on opening as a slots only casino but now that table games have been approved the site will be adding craps, blackjack, and roulette immediately while poker will come a little later.
The location will be adding 1,700 slot games and 42 table games. Hamilton stated that poker would not be offered at first because they will not have the space. As the economy gets better the facility will be adding more space including a parking garage.
