It has been a few months since the crazy Bellagio Hotel and Casino robbery in Las Vegas and police have finally made an arrest. Twenty nine year old Anthony Carleo was arrested just last week in connection with the outrageous robbery. Carleo has been charged with robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon. According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Carleo was able to return to the casino many times before he was arrested. The robbery took place a few weeks ago when a man in a motorcycle helmet stormed into the casino and stole $1.5 million in chips from a craps table. The man was able to get away as he was carrying a firearm and security could not catch him without fear of him using the gun. He got away via motorcycle.
The robbery was in the news around the world as the criminal was so brazen in his attack. No one could believe he just walked into the casino and was able to get away with so many chips. The casino then did away with the $25,000 chips and police worked many angles to try and find the robber trying to sell the stolen chips.
Carleo was finally arrested after he tried to sell the stolen chips. He met men who were undercover officers to try and sell the chips. Police then arrested him. Carleo was going to be charged with a drug charge when police found narcotics on him but they decided to drop that charge.
According to public record Carleo is the son of George Assad, who is the Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge. Comments have been sought from Assad but he has not come forward with a statement. Carleo surrendered to police without incident.
