The state of Pennsylvania is one step closer to adding craps and other table games to their casinos. A bill created to legalized table games in the state has made it past the Senate and now is on its way to the House of Representatives. The Senate voted 29-20 to pass the bill and if the bill is put in effect, research has shown the addition of table games will raise $200 million from taxes and fees for the state government. It is believed however that once the House reviews the bill, there may be some changes made before it will be passed.
The Senate bill would see a fourteen percent tax on table games such as craps and poker and casinos would be required to pay a $15 million fee to have the right to offer table games. The House would like to have a different bill that requires a thirty seven percent tax and a $20 million fee to casinos.
Only time will tell as to which bill will be past and if the state will be able to add the table games to their casinos. Either way, if table games are allowed at the casino, the state will definitely reap the benefits and the state will be tough competition for neighboring states.
