Since Pennsylvania lawmakers have approved table games for their state, nearby Delaware is going to debate the issue as well. Delaware will be in stiff competition with Pennsylvania if they do not get the table games as the neighboring state will take away their players. Ed Sutor the CEO and Dover Downs Casino President stated that the addition of games like craps, poker and blackjack will make the state’s casinos true destinations. He stated: “We’ll have everything that Atlantic City has, everything that Nevada has, and with regard to Atlantic City, they won’t have sports betting, even in its limited form, it gives us one edge that they don’t have.”
Sutor also commented on how long it would be until the games would be added to the state’s casinos. If lawmakers approve the games then it would be some time before the games could be added as dealers would have to be trained.
Sutor stated that it could take up to twelve weeks to train blackjack dealers while craps dealers would take an additional four weeks of training, for sixteen weeks total as the game is much harder to learn. If everything goes as planned the state could be running the games at Dover Downs sometime in June or July.
