Three men were arrested recently in Walton County Florida for participating in what police are calling illegal craps gambling. The three men were arrested after an investigation was conducted by the Sherriff’s office in Walton County as well as the Florida department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. The investigation started back in December of last year when information was given to the departments about illegal gambling that was happening on a regular basis at Havana Dreams. The establishment is located in Miramar Beach Florida and the three men, Vincent Authement, Joshua McLean and Jay Patel were supposedly playing craps.
The investigation saw agents go undercover. They found that from the first part of December 2010 to the end of last month the owner of Havana Dreams which is Authement, was holding weekly meetings with Patel to maintain a gambling room at the facility. People were able to come to the gambling room and play in craps games for cash.
During a raid on the property, police were able to find over $6,000 in cash as well as items used for gambling, ledgers for gaming and several alcoholic bottles. Both Patel and Authement were charged with one count of creating a gambling house which is a third degree felony. They were also charged with one count of gambling.
Mclean was charged with a gambling count as well and both Patel and Authement were charged by the ABT for selling alcohol without a license as well as a charge for not having a license for a bottle club. All three have been booked in the Walton County jail.
