The Hollywood Casino located at the Charles Town Races in West Virginia has been offering table games such as craps and blackjack since last summer. Because the table games were new, dealers had to be trained and hired. Many of the dealers were rookies to the industry but according to officials at the casino, the dealers have really shined and they are now earning even larger salaries since the games began. There are almost 500 dealers at the casino, working on such games as craps and poker. Al Britton the General Manager of the casino commented that it is amazing how quickly the new dealers took to the games. Britton commented that the dealers have learned both the technical aspects of the job as well as achieved excellent customer service.
Britton commented that the dealers have seen salaries increases of over $15,000. The dealer’s salaries started at $40,000 before the games started and now they make over $50,000. Britton also stated that the casino has benefitted from the dealers as well. Not only do players continue to come back because of the dealer’s skills but they are also spending money at the tables.
The casino was able to earn over $58 million in revenues during the first six months the table games were available. Overall, the table games have done well and will continue to do well as the dealers gain even more experience from working the craps and other table games.
