This past Monday night around eleven pm, two men were arrested in Madison, Wisconsin during a home craps game. Local police were going to a local apartment building in Madison to check on reports of gambling when they stumbled upon the craps game. The police came to the apartment building located on Thurston Lane when they heard what one officer called ‘the distinct sound of dice shaking and hitting the floor’. They knew they had found the spot where the gambling was taking place so they moved in.
As police moved in to the building to listen and see what was going on, they could tell a craps game was in progress. They heard the players involved discussing money and craps so they moved upstairs to where the sounds were coming from. As they approached the door, one of the suspects saw the police and said ‘Oh!’ Both of the suspects allegedly resisted being arrested by the police.
In the process of arrest, one of the officers fell down a flight of stairs and one of the suspects fell down as well. This all happened before the two suspects were arrested by police. The two men, Lamontez White and Gregory Thompson were arrested and White was charged with battery to a police officer as well as resisting or obstructing. Thompson was charged with resisting arrest.
Police were apparently tipped off to the craps game in progress but the assailants did not have any idea that police were approaching. In the end the criminals were arrested and suffered more charges than they would have if they had just gone quietly with the officers.
